Staff Picks for September!

Check out what your Co-op staff is loving right now...

Fall Into Wellness!

Melissa, HBC Manager

I'm sad to see summer go but do love Fall and all it brings: harvesting and canning the last of the garden’s riches, digging roots for food and medicine, hawthorn berry harvests, the first fire of the season, and the hearty foods and teas that are so nourishing and delicious! Of course, we also start to move into the cold and flu season with the kiddos back in school and the cooler temperatures. We have many items to keep your medicine chest stocked with. Here are a few of my favorites:

Help Me Out!

Greg, Deli Manager

Whether it’s something you’d consider a ‘special treat’ or it’s a staple that you’ve taken to buying elsewhere, a locally produced delicacy or something we don’t have as much access to here in the mountains, I’d love to hear about it...

There is No Co-op Brand

Daav Wheeler, FBFC Board of Directors

Thanks to the good work of the Co-op managers and staff and recent Co-op Boards, we are in a very good position to face the challenges. Sales are up, morale is good, there are a lot of good friends interested in the survival of this small institution. But we are going to have to work to remind the people of Asheville of what the French Broad Food Co-op is and the role we play in the community.

The Best Bulk Room Around!

Alanna Hibbard, FBFC Board of Directors

The bulk room. Humble yet plenty. Here I find my affordable staples in dazzling variety, alongside mysterious items of rarity.

Back to Basics Program Returns!

Bobby Sullivan, GM

Now in an effort to reach out beyond our current scope, starting in August we reintroduced the Back to Basics Program. It’s bigger than it was before, including items in produce, bulk, meat, grocery, body care and household products, all of which you can get on a regular basis at discounted prices.
